Envisaged Spaces
Envisages Spaces blog is as a temporary intangible space dedicated to the presentation of imagined, fantastical, envisaged or re-envisaged spaces, places and events. An interdisciplinary array of architectural, artistic and linguistic approaches have been included in order to showcase broad, diverse and unique definitions of ‘space’ as an artistic medium and subject matter. Physical, virtual or imagined spaces embody personal layers of history, information and activity either becoming or are already "palimpsests of real and diverse experiences and memories" (A. Huyssen (ed) 2008). The sections on Envisages Spaces blog include; investigations of architectural virtual and conceptual spaces, spaces not yet realized or physically manifested, yet these spaces celebrate the human aspiration to build, house and shelter, the aspiration to create theatres for the narratives of lives to unfold, and; A selection of conceptual renderings and writings of proposed and often hypothetical installations, artworks events and scenarios have also be included articulating the role that art, language and space plays in the presentation (re-) and/or contextualization (re-) of personal, social, cultural and political ideologies, histories and memories. The nature of this virtual platform raises contemporary questions regarding space as physical place and experience as corporeal or immediate (first hand). The works on this blog defiantly do not provide answers or solutions to these questions, however they do initiate and highlight the processes of discovery and solution. Ideas, concepts and imaginations surrounding spaces and experiences have been curated and presented in this wunderkama of information coding, creating a space within a space within a space depicting an idea of an idea of an idea…

Envisioned Space
Space in the urban context is manipulated through placement and juxtaposition of built form. The spaces created by built form are transformed into place.
firstly, if you're looking at the internet as curatorial space then I'd definitely look at the 'internet pavilion' at last year's Venice Biennale as an indication of the possibilities of 'curating' a virtual space and the results from that show because what ended up happening is that a group of hacker/pirate/artists kind of hijacked the whole thing and it went beyond the control of the curators which is interesting if you take into consideration the shifting tide of user-produced information in the internet now. as for me, I'd just say that virtual spaces and the 'proposed' stage of artwork is very interesting. sometimes more interesting than the final result, especially when you start looking at that the proposed or imagined idea as an end in itself. When you then take the internet into consideration you realize the potential of this imagined space as 'cyberspace' is largely an idea which lives only in the mind of the user. hope that helps we speak soon peanut head

Envisioned space is that which is defined by usage and form. Place making is space embedded with meaning. Positive place making is informed by and defined by the relationship of the built form, social and cultural layering and recognition of historic, present and future events. The envisioning or imagining of the form, use and happening shapes space.
